AI startup product ideas

2022 was a watershed year for AI with the release of DALL-E and ChatGPT and 2023 is continuing the trend with the release of GPT-4 from OpenAI, LLaMA from Facebook, and Bard from Google. Companies are now racing to develop new products which integrate with, or offer AI capabilities.

Here are some randomly named product ideas for an AI micro-SaaS business. These may already exist or be under development.

ChatPPT

Using prompt driven input, create a PowerPoint deck based on a topic of interest. Pull information from the internet and ensure the output is on-brand using previous slide decks created by your marketing team.

Jira Tickenator

Take a requirements document or spreadsheet (quelle horreur!) and split it into epics and stories. Programatically create these artifacts in a Jira project. Automatically add acceptance criteria, and ensure that stories are no bigger than 5 story points.

Gnatbot

Create a smart chatbot which integrates with a CRM. Identify the customer using something they know and provide intelligent, informed responses to questions using ChatGPT. Ensure this chatbot does not use a patronising tone.

TALK-E

Create a voice-enabled digital twin (voicebot) which can interact with call center staff. Provide the voicebot with a written instruction of your goal (for example, "I need to get a credit or refund on air fares for flights I can no longer take, my booking reference is ABC1234") and allow for your call to be transferred until a satisfactory outcome has been obtained.

Words2Pics

For documents lacking in illustrations or figures, take a PDF or Word document and convert complex or word-dense sections into a visual representation using DALL-E or Stable Diffusion.

Bobble

Use an existing, non-GPL'd GitHub repository and as the foundation for another software project which will been primed using a Jira backlog or high-level requirements from a prompt input. For example, "Create a mobile banking application using React Native which has three tabs: home, payments, and investments. Integrate the application with Auth0. The application should use biometrics for second factor authentication and support a light and dark mode."

Re:mail

Process all unread emails into a summary document or email. Highlight any tasks or offers which are time-bound for materially relevant topics. The summary should be waiting for review at the start of each day. Automatically unsubscribe from emails or report as spam for anything which does not match my interests.

Hiro

Create a plugin which consolidates or de-duplicates sprawl that exists across a collection of Miro boards. This plugin should also be able to "grok" a board and provide a user with the abiility to download a summary of no more than one page in PDF format.

Twinn

Create a voice-enabled assistant which can operate your computer to perform menial tasks. For example, "Twinn; send an email to my team advising them I will be on annual leave next week". Or, "Twinn; submit my timesheet for this week".

Footnote: There are a proliferation of startups building products using ChatGPT. I expect many of them will face a highly competitive market due to a lack of product differentiation and the low barrier to entry. AI-based products could be a first-mover or winner-takes-all play.
